Desiree lives in Arcadia with her husband, daughter, and son. Her son is a freshman who studies Computer Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona and her daughter is a junior at Arcadia High.
Desiree’s “aha” moment came when she realized that because of the ScholarShare investment her son’s first year of college including his dorm fees would be debt free since they didn’t qualify for financial aid or scholarships. Having this savings gave her son the opportunity to focus on his first-year experience and not worry about acquiring college debt.
Her advice to other parents who have young children is “start early and think about ScholarShare as the insurance for your children educational future and just like you pay for car insurance, home insurance and health insurance make it a habit to pay for academic “insurance” no matter the amount.
